Adar is the 12th month of the Jewish calendar. The word Adar means " strength. " This month of good fortune for the Jewish people and a month of joy.
The joy of Adar is what makes this the " pregnant " month of the year. Seven of the nineteen years in the cycle of the Jewish calendar are " leap years, " which are " pregnant " with additional month of Adar. When there are two months of Adar in a calendar year. Purim is celebrated in the 2nd Adar, in order to connect the redemption of Purim to the redemption of Passover.
